Chairman's View

Hello again! We have had a very active few months this dive season; there have been lots of dive trips run, ranging from 1 day training trips to weekend plus trips. 

I was very happy with the Oban trip. We had good weather, a good mix of people, great diving and the dive centre could not have been better. Thanks to all who made this possible. The trip will be run again in 2001.

Now onto the social side. A couple of months ago we ran a bowling evening in the Jarman centre. This was good fun and we sold all the tickets. The social side of our club activity is one area that I would like to encourage a bit more; we have a club that is outgoing, friendly and getting bigger. If anybody has an idea that could involve alcohol and having fun, please let me know.

Grant Aid

We have had a couple of meetings with Jonathan Lee from Dacorum Borough Council and are currently awaiting a decision with regard to DS-AC receiving a grant from the council. 

The main areas we are looking at are:

• upgrading and updating the boat
• diving and non-diving equipment
• improvements to the boat house

Club Library

My thanks go to Steve Dearman, who is making a big effort with the club library. It is now possible to download you're Aladdin or Suunto computers and view your dive profiles. Please speak to Steve.

Try Dives

We have held a couple of very successful try dives recently. In September we took part in the national try dive week. This attracted good reports both from the people who took part and BSAC. 

The second try dive was well attended and raised some money for the club. From both try dives we have added to our list of potential new members. A big thank you for all the help I received on the evening.
