Divers on a try dive
Divers on a try dive

What are Try Dives?

  • They are dives in a swimming pool.
  • We provide the diving equipment.
  • There is a one hour classroom lesson prior to the dive.
  • You'll be shown what to do and accompanied by an instructor in the pool.
  • You're likely to be underwater for 30 minutes.
  • The cost is £20 per person.

What happens?

Try Dives take place six to twelve times a year on Thursday evenings.

This is the timetable:

  • 7:00 pm: Meet at Apsley Village Club.
  • 7:15 pm: An introductory lecture on medical matters, diving safety, diving equipment and underwater signals.
  • 8:45pm: Meet your instructor at the pool side at Hemel Hempstead Leisure Centre.
  • 9:00pm: Have a briefing from the instructor, kit up, enter the 2 metre pool and dive!
  • 10:00pm: Leave the pool and return to Apsley Village Club for a drink and talk.

Fitness

You do not need to be an athlete to use the equipment or go underwater. It's quite simple and a great experience. Relax, take it easy and enjoy the dive.

You will need to sign a declaration of medical fitness to dive. If you have any doubts about your fitness, please speak to the instructor running the introductory lecture.
