Club Meeting

This page tells you what goes on at the club meeting

Triton

DS-AC meets at Apsley Village Club each Thursday evening at around 8pm.

Apsley Village Club is located in Aplsey opposite to Sainsbury's. See the map.maps

Apsley Village Club is a private members' club, part of the CUI group, so you'll need to identify yourself at the front door. We use the left hand room on the ground floor.

The club meeting is a relaxed occasion consisting of :

  • announcements of dive trips and training sessions
  • dive trip reports
  • discussions of recent diving events
  • debates of decisions or issues the club faces

If members want to dive or train they need to be at the meeting to find out what is going on.

New members will find it useful to come to the meeting regularly to get to know committee members, trip organisers, instructors and, of course, other members of the club. Once you start doing the interesting and fun bits of diving: courses and dive trips, you'll really get to know others in the club.

Your first visit

It is better to phone usphone DSAC, Hemel herts, rather than to come down to the meeting on the off chance that someone will be able to talk to you. If we know you are coming to the meeting we can arrange for someone to show you around and to answer your questions.

The reason for this is: the meeting is a very busy time. Most of the face-to-face weekly business of the club takes place between 8 and 9pm on Thursdays. Often we have 30 people at the meeting and they specifically came to talk to someone about something. If this was not enough, we also run courses, do pool training and organise trips on either side of the meeting.

For people being trained and those doing instruction, pool training takes place between 9pm and 10pm in the 2 and 4 metre pools. Space permitting, others sometimes go down for a swim or chat.

The social side

Those not going in the pool can remain at the Apsley Village Club for the weekly social meeting of the club.

The crowd builds after 10pm when the trainees and instructors arrive back from the pool. Generally there are people the Club until closing time.
