Dacorum Sub Aqua ClubTechnical DivingThis page outlines the technical diving the club does. Technical diving in DSACThe club has an active group of trimix and rebreather technical divers who regularly dive deep wrecks around the UK coast. DSAC has around 20 nitrox qualified divers, 7 trimix and 5 rebreather divers. Most of the nitrox divers have been trained by our own instructors in DSAC. New members with technical trainingWe welcome keen, qualified and safety conscious technical divers. You'll need to be a Dive Leader equivalent (eg PADI DM), technically trained and have suitable equipment. What is Technical Diving?Technical diving is an advanced form of Sport Diving that allows deeper and longer dives using one or both of the following:

What is the motivation for technical diving? There are literally thousands of wrecks that are easily visited by boat around the coast of Britain. Many of the better preserved sites are in deeper water where they have been protected from damage by salvagers, the elements and the shipping lane authorities. These deep wrecks, unlike many shallower wrecks, look "ship shape" and have many more identifying features and artifacts to see. What did divers do before technical diving was "invented"?There have always been divers doing adventurous deeper and longer dives. In the past they did those dives on air, suffering nitrogen narcosis at depth and doing long decompression stops because air is a relatively inefficient decompression gas. |
