Dacorum Scuba has chartered the Jurassic Aqua Sports boat Waverider out of Portland on Saturday 29 July 2023 to dive the British Inventor and a drift dive off Bat’s Head Reef, with maximum depths of 21m.
Lying on the Lulworth Banks, and also known as the Scallop Wreck, the British Inventor was a 7101 ton oil tanker which struck a mine on 13th June 1940. She was beached, but broke in two. The stern section was salvaged, but the bow section remains for divers to explore. A well-scattered wreck, there is a wealth of marine life to be found around the distributed hull plates and structure.
