Easy Way to Share Images for the Club Website

Waves Shape
by Comms Officer Kristina

It is really great to be able to record club activities for posterity on the Dacorum Scuba website, which is proving to be a great recruiting tool as well as a place where members can find information 24/7. I hope you are using the website? Any feedback is welcomed, so please get in touch.

To make it easier for Dacorum Scuba members to share their images of club activities, I have set up a dedicated Dropbox account using the Comms Officer’s email account comms@dacorumsac.org.uk

If you would like to share your images for use on the club website, and social media, there are a few things to think about first.

  • As the creator of an image, you can specify how others can use it. If you don’t, anyone can use and manipulate your image even for commercial use, so precious images should be protected. You can use the Creative Commons licensing system to do this, if you place a text on your picture before publishing it others must respect your instruction.
  • For images of you, Dacorum Scuba asks members to read a photo release form, and hopefully agree that the club can use images of you. The photo release form is available on the club’s Google Drive (G drive instructions).
  • Please do not send images of children unless accompanied by a completed photo release form.

If you are happy with the above, I’d like you to share selected images from club activities using the dropbox account called Kris DacorumScuba Comms.

You don’t need a Dropbox account to share. You can email comms@dacorumsac.org.uk to ask me to send you a File Request email, which contains simple instructions and a link to use for the file transfer. Please include in your initial email to me the basic details (what, when, where, who) of the club activity in the pictures you are planning to send. (If you already have a Dropbox account, you can share a folder with comms@dacorumsac.org.uk)

If all else fails, you can email individual images to comms@dacorumsac.org.uk, but email services have a habit of sending low res images that aren’t best for all uses and it can be hard work to download all of your files this way too.

I hope to hear from you soon.
