Dacorum Scuba offers members a varied training programme under which two divers recently completed a BSAC Accelerated Decompression Procedures (ADP) skill development course.
The course is designed to help divers stay under the water for longer periods while minimising the time it takes to safely return to the surface. The dive plan for an ADP dive involves using different gas mixes at different stages of the dive.
Lead instructor Andy B said: “We’re a club that puts a very high priority on training, partly because it enables divers to get more out of their diving and partly with an eye for the future. The ADP course is one of many courses we run throughout the year.”
One of the students Andrew F said: “The course was great fun and incredibly useful. It was a good mix of theory and practice, and has definitely opened up new diving opportunities.”
In addition to training students, the course was also used as an opportunity to upskill instructors. Lead instructor Andy was supported by an assistant who, following the hands-on experience gained, is now qualified to deliver the course.
