Tuesday evening saw the start of DSAC’s first Ocean Diver course since the Covid pandemic began. Welcome to Erin, Natalie, and Yasoda.
Three students were in the pool with two instructors. The students have been using the new BSAC e-learning to study diving theory. They’ll learn practical skills during twice weekly pool sessions held over three weeks beginning on 3 August.
This new model of training is being tried out in response to feedback that it can take a long time to qualify as an Ocean Diver. The aim is to give our students the opportunity to do their first open-water dives at the club BBQ on 4 September.
Thanks to our volunteers, who have come together at Hemel Hempstead Leisure Centre to organise the course, prepare kit, act as safety marshals and instruct.
BSAC’s Ocean Diver course is the place to start to learn to dive. This entry-level qualification will equip you with the core skills to dive to a maximum of 20 metres in open water, in the UK and abroad. Before you join a course at DSAC it’s a good idea to have a go by doing a try dive.
