Training: Sports Diver Success, 27/28 November 2021

The club held a successful open-water Sports Diver training weekend on 27 and 28 November 2021.

Two students and their instructors attended a snowy Stoney Cove. The water temp was 8C, much warmer than the air.  It snowed as we arrived on Saturday, but stopped. It snowed again as we left Sunday.

For the first dive we concentrated on buoyancy skills, as for one trainee it was their first drysuit dive.

Three dives were successfully signed off during the weekend:

• SO2 Surface Marker Buoy: dragging it along the 6m shelf
• SO3 Simulated Decompression and Line Laying: on the wreck of the Stanegarth
• SO4 Compass and Delayed SMB: carried out from the helicopter wreck.
