Dacorum Scuba members visited Dosthill Quarry, near Tamworth in Staffordshire, for the first time in quite a while on Sunday 29 January 2023.
The site boasts quite a bit of wildlife including eels and sturgeon; we saw perch and roach and a few manmade objects. The quarry walls are vertical rock and there is a shallow 10-12m shelf at the far side with a number of containers and other man made objects for buoyancy challenges. The underwater viz was pretty good in little visited areas, but a bit milky in popular spots.
This is a low key site, and as a result quite relaxed. Divers tend to turn up early and then clear the site by lunchtime. There is a gas station, changing space in containers, a take away cafe, portaloos and good access and exit from the water.
