Trip Report: Stoney Cove 2 May 2022

With warmer weather settling in on a bank holiday weekend, some club members set off to Stoney Cove for training and experience dives. Viz underwater was decent at four to six metres and provided a great opportunity for members to enjoy the site; those new to Stoney Cove were able to explore the wrecks and get a good feel for the quarry. And the car park was unusually empty.

One junior member working on her Ocean Diver training, noted:

“I was learning how to use my drysuit. I really liked getting to know how to use it outside of the pool, though it was a LOT colder, especially for practicing mask skills. We also practiced buoyancy by going up and over the submarine which wasn’t like anything I’d ever seen before.

Cheesy chips from the cafe were very nice after the first dive and a hot chocolate helped warm me up. I’m looking forward to being able to use my skills on some sea dives next.”
