When 22nd February
Event Killer Darts Competition
Time 20:00 - 21:30
Location Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club

We are planning a fun night playing “Killer” after the club meeting on 22 February, to raise a few bob for the club’s coffers.

Those not taking part will be encouraged to boo, whistle, cheer and participate in any legal way. We want it to be fun.

There will be a signing up sheet on the night, a £5 entry fee and you will be allocated a random number by drawing a card (hearts 1 to 10, spades 11 to 20) when you par with your hard-earned cash. Please have a fiver ready as we probably won’t have change.  The maximum number of players is 20. I wonder why?

There is a prize: the winner will get 30 per cent (sort of rounded up or down) of the total entry fees. Runner up will get about 20% (sort of rounded up or down) of the total entry fee. Third place will get entry fee back. The remainder will go to the club.

The rules (our version)

We have adapted the rules to give everyone a chance of enjoying the game. You want to become a Killer! Having achieved “Killer” status is where the real fun begins.

  1. Each player will be allocated a random number on signing up. This is to speed up the process of allocating their number rather than throwing a dart. This will be their number for the entire game.
  2. Each player has three lives.
  3. Each turn will consist of three darts.
  4. To become a Killer, each player will attempt to hit the inner segment (double will be too difficult for most of us!!) of the number they were assigned.
  5. After 3 rounds if a player is not yet a Killer, then a hit anywhere in their number segment will do.
  6. Once a player becomes a Killer, they will aim for their opponent’s inner quadrant (again too hard to do doubles) to eliminate them. One hit will remove one life.
  7. If a player loses all three of their lives, they are out of the game.
  8. It is possible to eliminate a player from the game before they become a Killer. However, Killers need to be careful when aiming close to their own number. If a Killer hits the inner segment (double) of their own number, they will remove one of their lives.
  9. The game ends when only one person is left standing.

If we run this game again another time and people think that the adapted rules are too simple, we can always use the proper rules.

You have to be in it to win it, and if you aren’t there you can’t really comment on how the rules work can you?  So please join us on the night for some fun. Just turn up at club night on Thursday 22 February.
