Dacorum Scuba has chartered a boat called MV Legends in the Red Sea for the week 4-11 March 2023. We have 13 people going (12 are divers) but the dive deck could take a few more divers.
This vessel is a Red Sea Live aboard with a difference, in that it is very much geared up to technical diving with supplies of O2 and Helium on board with a licence to go below 40m with unlimited dive times. We have a mixed bunch going, ranging from those firmly in the recreational camp to MOD 3 technical divers. We’ll therefore try for an itinerary that caters for most people’s ability centred around the classic northern wrecks and reefs. There should be something for everyone and the fact that we have fully chartered the boat should mean that there is a degree of flexibility when it comes to the itinerary.
At the moment and with the number we have on board we anticipate the base cost which covers full board and lodgings (tanks and weights etc) and airport transfers to and from Hurgada (but excluding flights) to be around €1,000. Extras include Sofnolime and helium. Obviously, if we do get a couple more people will divide the charter cost up accordingly and the price will come down.
We went on the boat in February 2020 when we took our rebreathers having not done many CCR dives but the team on board looked after us well and we had a great time. You can find more information on MV Legend’s website and the boat is also featured in this December’s issue of SCUBA magazine.
